THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

Early March 2009 we made a visit to one of my favourite museums - the Natural History Museum in Kensington, London. It's a stunning building (see picture of ceiling below), terribly easy to get to and, best of all, it's free! Undoubtedly the best bit was the huge "rock room", containing mineral and rock specimens from throughout the world, topped off by "The Vault" - a high security room filled with the most beautiful precious gems which would put a jeweller's to shame (see picture of Hannah ogling over the "Queen of Africa" diamond necklace!). Once at the museum, we also decided to visit the Charles Darwin exhibition (not my favourite, but interesting nevertheless). The day was rounded off by the mandatory munching of chocolate muffins in the "Panda Coffee Shop"!
