“Crazy Chocolate Cake”

 

 

 

Pre-heat the oven to 180° C. 

 

Sift the following ingredients together into a bowl (or directly into the cake tin – as you prefer).

 

(NB:  I never bother with a sieve!)

 

3 cups flour

2 cups sugar

6—8 tblspns cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

 

Make three depressions in the mixture, and put one of the following into each:

 

¾ cup vegetable oil

2 tblspns white vinegar

2 tsp vanilla

 

Pour 2 cups of cold water over all, and blend thoroughly with a fork.  Pour one 8 oz bag of chocolate chips, if desired, over batter.

 

Bake for 30 minutes.

 

(NB:  Although the recipe says 30 minutes, I usually find I have to bake it for at least an hour, and even then it’s a bit gooey, but everyone seems to love it!)
